Kevan Tupling

"My name is Kevan Tupling. I was 38 when I had a stroke. Made a good recovery physically. Emotionally, memory wise not so good and still have problems with speech, but I'm working on these. Confidence was really low. That's when I contacted Different Strokes and joined the Facebook group.
Almost instantly after posting other members were replying. Suddenly I wasn't alone anymore. Reading others posts inspired me and my posts got replies with support. There's funny posts and serious too along with some good information and links.
In general though it's people carrying on with their lives after stroke. The group gave me confidence to do that too. The Different Strokes Facebook group is the best support I've had post stoke. A big thankyou to everyone involved."

I had my stroke on December 16 2013 when I collapsed while crossing a road and was almost run over by a bus. I found DS through the Facebook group while looking for support, help and advice for my wife and I when I came out of hospital.

DS has been vital in providing all those things, which is why I did my sponsored run to raise money to fund the FB group. BTW, the page is still open until the end of November and I'm still getting donations. Once it closes, I've got some offline donations to add and I'd like to talk about doing a cheque presentation somewhere. I expect the final figure to be about £1100.
